Harrow Estates have recently released a proposed plan to extend Woodford Garden Village by up to 750 additional homes
Following on from the original Woodford Garden Village development of 920 homes originally agreed as part of their new build plan passed by Stockport Council in 2015 (ref: DC/053832), this proposal seeks to extend the Village with proposals to include a mix of new housing comprising of affordable and elderly accommodation, heritage uses, a community hub and open space.
Woodford resident and Conservative spokesperson for Bramhall South and Woodford Ward Peter Crossen highlighted,
"I have lived on the Woodford Garden Village for over 5 years and it has been wonderful to welcome so many new families and neighbours to the area. However, lately I have received a deluge of emails and phone calls from concerned residents who feel that despite reaching out to their Liberal Democrat councillors for help, they are not listening and local services are at breaking point. Many families were disappointed to miss out on school places at the new Woodford Primary school this year despite living within the catchment area just yards from the school itself. Residents are also concerned that despite the promise of shops and services in the proposed retail space, no further progress has been made on this and question if and when this will go ahead."
Peter continued " One resident called me this week, concerned that the earliest appointment at the local doctors would be in 2 months and that driving in to Bramhall was difficult at the best of times but with the Council now charging in the final remaining free car park in Bramhall and no regular public transport it's going to become even worse'
"And it's not just Woodford residents that are concerned, I've been contacted by MANY residents in Bramhall who are concerned with yet more building on Stockport's greenbelt. One resident just off Ack Lane in Bramhall highlighted that with the new Handforth Garden Village planned by Cheshire East Council and now the additional homes in Woodford, Bramhall would be gridlock both on the roads and in our Doctor's and dental surgery's"
We are therefore keen to hear your views on the proposed plan. With the initial feedback and comments on the emerging proposals to inform further design work your Conservative team across Woodford, Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme are determined to make sure your voice is heard, so please complete the enclosed survey and let us know how you feel.
