Since the arrival of the Bee Network bus service in Stockport users across the network have been experiencing many issues with their commute on the 378, 378a, 379, 307 & 308 routes.
Residents have been reaching out to Councillor Peter Crossen to express their frustration at the delays and service problems that have impacted both their's and their children's ability to get to school, work, college and urgent appointments throughout the 2 weeks of the Bee Networks arrival across Stockport borough.
Councillor Peter Crossen explained,
Over the past 2 weeks, residents have been contacting me concerned that delays and instances of the bus failing to turn up at all has had a massive impact on their commute to and from work.
Several residents have also told me that children have been disproportionately affected by the issue. Several children who attend Aquinas college have been taking exams recently and have been hit with delays and in some cases capacity issues have seen buses drive past bus stops without stopping as only a single decker rather than a double decker has been provided.
This is causing extra stress to children and their parents, many of whom have had to arrive late for work, take annual leave and organise car pools in order to get their children to their exams on time.
Whilst teething problems may occur, two weeks in we would like to see a more settled service for the people of Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme and Woodford and are asking for stakeholders across the network to listen to the residents issues help us achieve a more reliable network in the days and weeks ahead and I am calling for the immediate introduction double decker services at peak times in order to fix some of the most immediate capacity issues.
Peter has reached out to the leader of Stockport council, Bee Network representatives and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham to ask for assistance with fixing the issues we have seen litter the first few weeks of the new service.
Please sign Peter's survey in order that we can get to the route of the issues experienced by residents-
