We are very happy with the recommendation in the report commissioned by Stockport Council - that Queensgate School remain where it is.
This is a huge win for parents and children in the community. Our councillors have repeatedly asserted that children should not have to make unreasonable journeys to reach their school and get an education. The proposed move would have had that affect.
We are also very proud of the work done by Councillors John McGahan, Brian Bagnall and Mike Hurleston for their work on this campaign, driving it forward and engaging with residents and constituents to get their views and make Stockport Council aware of how strong feelings run on this topic.
Our MP, Mary Robinson MP has also joined us in campaigning on this topic and added her voice to those of her constituents. A big thank you to her.
Most importantly we want to thank the residents of Bramhall and Woodford, and Cheadle constituents, for helping us to fight the proposed move. Without you responding to petitions, canvassing and delivering leaflets, we might not have had such an overwhelming response.
Stockport Cabinet will meet on 20th July @ 6pm to vote on the recommendation but we are hopeful the cabinet will do the right thing and stand by it, and keep Queensgate where it is.
