Happy International Women's day 2022.
This year, we pause for a moment to send our thoughts and prayers to all women caught up in the conflicts currently happening in Ukraine and throughout the world.
We also remember the sacrifices and achievements of women throughout history and celebrate those mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters and all female role models in our life.
Lisa Walker, the Conservative Councillor for Bramhall North has this to say today -
" First of all I wish all women a happy International Women’s Day! You don’t have to be involved in politics to be able to think of the courageous women who fought for the right to give women a voice and the vote. That was the start of change, and how thankful we can all be. I have represented residents of Bramhall North Ward for 12 years and I am delighted to be re-standing for election again this year. Even during my time on the council I have seen an increase of female councillors which is great to see.
It has taken quite some time for equality to catch up, and in some areas it is still a work in progress whether it is with regards to the colour of skin, disabilities, equal pay, promotions or to be able to express an independent view whether that is in the home or in the workplace.
So ladies please lets congratulate ourselves for being who we are; strong, kind, caring, passionate, intelligent – what an incredible skill set to have! "
