We have received news today that Jones Homes is preparing an outline planning application for the development of around 250 family homes at land off Hall Moss Lane, Bramhall.
The proposal which is now open for feedback from the local community includes a plan for 250 new houses on the land just off Hall Moss Lane including a range of property types, 50% of those comprising intermediate and social rent housing, provision of a linear park, recreational facilities and extensive landscaping.
Local Councillor Peter Crossen reacted to the news of this latest development plan for Bramhall South & Woodford Ward:-
Whilst i acknowledge the need for new homes, especially those that are affordable to first time buyers. I am deeply concerned that the Liberal Democrat led council have invited chaos across Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme and Woodford due to their delays and failure to present a local plan on housing for the borough.
Without a competent plan, we currently have an application for up to 750 new homes in Woodford, this new plan for 250 houses on an area that residents for tell me is constantly flooding. Residents report to me daily that they see surveyors measuring every spare patch of land including 2 further sites in Woodford.
Yet plans and promises on infrastructure simply have not materialised at all. Promises of doctors, dentists, school places and other vital services have not materialised. The A555 is flooding annually and the traffic flow at peak times going towards the A34 at Stanley Green is causing chaos and misery for residents and commuters.
Couple this with the Cheshire East Council plan for 1500 new homes on the other side of the A34 and it signals disaster for residents and infrastructure in the decades ahead.
Residents of our ward have been and continue to be more than hospitable when it comes to new homes in our area but there comes a time where we need to pause and ask is Bramhall South & Woodford being asked to take more than it's fair share of the borough housing targets and come up with a holistic, fair and balanced plan focussed around appropriate infrastructure first before we give the green light to more homes than we can take.
